A) Removal of existing rivets
Before you begin, make sure you are working in a well-lit and clear space; safety is paramount.
-
Racket well supported, stable and protected surface.
-
Operate from the top of the racket.
-
Identify the small central hole in the rivet heads
-
Secure the underside of the rivet (on the pivot) with a vise grip to prevent any rotation during removal (see image).
-
Lubricate the rivet head
-
Position the drill bit in the center of the rivet head hole.
-
Start at low speed, apply constant pressure
-
Monitor the temperature of the metal and the pivot of the racket.
-
Once the head is pierced, extract the remaining stem and washer.
-
Check that the pivot strip is not damaged.
B) Professional (qualitative) advice
-
Stability: it's best to have one hand on the drill and a good grip on the pliers.
-
Check: if the rivet starts to turn, stop, tighten the vise grips, then resume.
-
Final cleanup: remove metal shavings before continuing the installation of the new parts

C) Last important step — Final assembly of the parts
1️⃣ Start by carefully removing the binding and crampon from your snowshoe.
Handle each part carefully to avoid damaging the pivot.
2️⃣ Using a sharp X-Acto knife, carefully remove the anti-slip layer located on top of the fastener (harness).
Using a good, sturdy pair of scissors, cut out the anti-slip plate located under the harness from the old harness.
3️⃣ Assembling the components
Once the 4 pieces are perfectly aligned and stacked — foot plate, metal cleats and bottom plate — place the complete assembly over the existing toe cord, assemble carefully and firmly, using rivets or bolts with self-locking nuts of your choice, depending on the style or level of robustness desired.
